3 Days Murchison Falls Safari Uganda

This 3-day Murchison Falls safari in Uganda takes you to the world’s most powerful waterfall, located in the northwestern part of the country. Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest national park (3,840 km²). Along the journey, you may encounter Big Five mammals—elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and (at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary) rhinos—plus Nile crocodiles, hippos, bushbucks, and notable birds such as the black bee-eater, shoebill, weavers, and the grey crowned crane.

Day 1: Pick-Up in Entebbe — Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary — Murchison Falls National Park

You’ll be picked up from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel. Our driver-guide from Kwezi Adventures will meet and brief you on the journey, then you’ll drive toward Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking. In addition to white rhinos, you may see antelopes and birdlife. After lunch, continue to the park for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game Drive — Nile Boat Cruise — Hike to the Top of the Falls (Optional Night Drive)

After an early breakfast, set out for a morning game drive on classic tracks such as Albert, Buligi, and Victoria. Look out for buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, bushbucks, giraffes, and more. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise upstream to the bottom of the falls, where you can spot Nile crocodiles on the banks, pods of hippos, and birds including the black bee-eater, grey crowned crane, and marabou stork. After the cruise, hike to the Top of the Falls to feel the power of Murchison as it thunders through an ~8 m-wide gorge, sending a refreshing mist into the air. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive — (Optional Chimpanzee Tracking) — Return to Entebbe

After an early breakfast, head out for a final morning game drive. Have lunch in Masindi, then continue to Entebbe (airport or hotel). Optionally, you can track chimpanzees in Budongo Forest at an extra cost of US$150 per person.

For chimp tracking, wear a long-sleeved shirt, khaki trousers, a hat, boots, and carry a light rain jacket. Pack drinking water and snacks. Proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts; a ranger will guide you through the forest. Upon locating the chimpanzees, you’ll spend up to one hour observing their behavior before continuing your journey to Entebbe for departure or an additional night in the Pearl of Africa.
